36 Weeks...Mommy Update

I'm 36 weeks pregnant as of today, but the picture is at 35 weeks b/c it's the last one we've taken.  I'm still feeling pretty good.  Our little boy is definitely running out of room, though.  I get a little more uncomfortable everyday.  I've had a good but rocky last few months in the land of pregnancy.  I got diagnosed with gestational diabetes which was something neither one of us was expecting.  Everything had been going so well, and to our knowledge I didn't have any risk factors for gestational diabetes.  I have to admit that I was quite upset when I was first diagnosed, but I have come to accept it and live with it.  And I know that the diet I'm having to endure because of it will be well worth it to keep our baby boy healthy.  Now that I'm on a restricted diet and pretty much can't eat anything good I've kind of stopped gaining weight.  So now the doctor is concerned about that.  And the baby was measuring too small so we had to go in for another ultrasound.  That was a little scary to think something may be wrong with him, but we were excited to get to see him again.  It turned out that everything looked okay with him he's just little!  Imagine that, me having a small baby!  He's in the 28th percentile for size.  Even with a few bumps in the road this has been a good pregnancy, and it is amazing to see how God grows and develops babies!  We are so excited and can't wait to meet our baby boy!  And since I'm not so good at updating our blog the next post you see may be the announcement of his birth!

Baby Showers Galore

Like I said before, I'm not very good at updating the blog.  We've had a busy few months, and now we're almost to July and that much closer to Baby T's arrival!  At the end of April we were able to get all of the rooms painted with the help of some great friends, and then we went on in to May, which we should rename The Month of Baby Showers!  We are very blessed to be loved by so many people.  Our little boy is loved and spoiled by so many already!  We started out with a shower in Albemarle and received a lot of nice stuff from many of Derek's family and friends.  Here are a few of the items: stroller/car seat, an NC State stroller for when our little man is a little older, high chair, swing, clothes, and the list goes on and on.  Then my sweet Meredith girls had a lunch for me at the Olive Garden..yummm....and we got our pack-n-play and lots of other fun goodies!  It was really nice to be together with those girls again!  The next day we were honored with a shower given by our Raleigh friends, Nichole Hackmann and Jen Hankins.  The gifts continued to flow in at that shower.  Among them was a cute little onesie that says "Cool Just Like Daddy"!  My mom also gave us a cute little outfit with a surfboard on it that reminds me of my dad....how sweet!  Next came a surprise shower from my 8th grade small group girls at church!  We got plenty of cute clothes from them.  My office gave us a shower that Derek got to come to for a little bit!  It was nice for him to finally get to meet my coworkers.  They all went in and bought our crib bedding for us, and we got lots of Target gift cards which will come in very handy!  Then we had what we thought was our last shower.  In June my Concord friends, Holly Wyke and Ashley and Pam Cohen gave us a fantastic shower!  Many of my friends that I don't get to see very often came and brought us tons of stuff for Baby T!  We got a nice bouncy seat, lots of diapers, an exersaucer, TONS of adorable clothes, and so much more!  It was awesome!  I thought that was it and there were just a few more things we needed to buy before our little guy comes into the world, but then I got surprised with a fun little shower from the ladies at church that lead middle school small group with me!  They came through with some of the things I thought I was going to have to buy!  All in all I would have to say that the Lord has truly blessed us with generosity from so many people.  There really is not much that we have to get ourselves.  Praise God!  And just in case you weren't counting....the total comes to SEVEN baby showers!!  Thanks to everyone for everything!
